This spirit aged in contact with Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The majority of the flavors come from aging in oak barrels. Initially, it was matured in bourbon barrels before a finish in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez puncheons. The aroma is soft and rich, with notes of cream candy and vanilla, complemented by dried fruits like apricots, plums, and figs. Dark chocolate and orange peel are also present, all underscored by an intense, dry, and mineral peat smoke. The taste is smooth and dry with mineral peat smoke. Dried fruits such as plums and apricots combine with spicy forest honey and dark chocolate. Roasted hazelnuts, nutmeg, and cinnamon are also detected. The dry finish is characterized by rich mineral peat smoke and charcoal, with a lingering presence on the palate.

Meikle Tòir, a brand of peated single malt whisky from The Glenallachie, uses peat sourced from St. Fergus in mainland Scotland, along with locally obtained malted barley from Scottish producers. The Sherry One expression is matured for five years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to Pedro Ximénez and oloroso puncheons. The spirit has a peat level of 35ppm and an alcohol by volume of 48%. It was introduced in the UK in late 2023 and became available in the US starting February 2024. (SRP $75)

Essentially a peated Glenallachie, what's not to love? This gives me sweet smoked meat vibes. I absolutely love peat and sherry. The peat is moderate in my opinion, not overpowering. If I tasted this blind, I would never guess it's only 5 years old. It's not sharp or unrefined in any way. I can't wait for older expressions 👌
