About this bottle

In 2015, Charles Medley and his son Sam revived the "Private Stock" brand, honoring Charles's great-great grandfather George Medley who first introduced it in 1873, after finding an old bourbon bottle in their cellar. This bourbon, crafted from a mash bill primarily of corn with rye as a secondary grain, is aged for at least 10 years and bottled at 45% ABV.

I was drawn to this bourbon primarily because the bottle appears to be an exact copy of the Elmer T Lee glass. The bourbon lived up to expectations. It has great depth of flavor and a lingering aftertaste. Perhaps I've overlooked this bourbon before since I'd never seen it and the shop attendant was clueless about it. I wish I had another bottle.

Traditional aroma. On tasting, the rye characteristics are prominent, with good spice. Herbal and zesty. A balanced sweetness. The spice has a lasting quality. 1/25/18

This spirit introduced me to the brand. I now consistently search for their uniquely shaped bottles.

I'm unsure. Fruity? Sweet? Grainy? I don't know.
