The aroma is mild with creamy oak, sweet fruit and raisins, plus hints of smoke, dried flowers, brown sugar and a vintage funk. It's very distinct, possessing wheated bourbon qualities but with the unique touch of chinquapin oak providing that funk. The taste is similarly gentle with a satisfying chew that coats the mouth with creamy oak, sweet fruit and a significant amount of that funk. It's rich and flavorful, with perfect balance. There's no harshness, and the flavors become richer, with dark chocolate adding great depth. It progressively becomes even more velvety smooth, the flavors deepen, and the sweetness takes on a wine-like quality. There's no sign of it being over 100 proof; this is undeniably the smoothest bourbon I've ever encountered. The finish is long, funky, and rich, offering endless flavors to explore. Some spice can be coaxed out, but ultimately it's all about sweetness and creaminess, with an amazing funk reminiscent of vintage bourbons. Truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
