About this bottle

McKenzie exemplifies the increasing trend of experimentation among young American whiskey brands. While its mash bill of 70% corn, 20% rye, and 10% malted barley is common, the corn and rye are sourced from local farmers. Following a double pot-still distillation, the whiskey is aged for a minimum of 3 years in charred American oak.

Pierre Ricks 3.0

Dried fruit on the nose, Caramel and sawdust in the mouth, with a dry finish that I suspect comes from the Chardonnay barrels.

Paula Hirsch 4.3

Had the opportunity to try this at 3 different locations in the Finger Lakes, including Finger Lakes Distilling. Very pleasing!

Julio Eller 3.3

The nose smells of toasted, ground grains. It has a very soft mouthfeel. Flavors of raw dough, grains, and unsalted pumpkin seeds with a finish of spiced barrel.

Hana Ponce 4.0

I had this at The Flatiron Room. It's funny because it was my top choice of the evening, earning 4 stars, yet it has a low rating.

Maurice Barry 3.8

Fantastic drinking this in the finger lakes region. I enjoy the initial and final flavors... a bit of sweetness in the middle.

Jamie Dobson 3.3

Enjoyable! Initially sharp, but after a few sips, I found more flavor. A good bourbon.
