I did a side-by-side comparison with J.Dupont XO Art Deco... This one is more potent, has a fuller body, and a fruitier aroma, with an aftertaste of similar duration but entirely different scents. On the nose, scents of prune, plum, leather... all with strong characteristics. In the mouth, the body is firm, potent, and spicy, but not overly harsh (perhaps a bit much for me as I typically favor mild to potent) with notes of dark and blue fruits, fig, cedar, leather, cinnamon, wood... the body is more substantial than J.Dupont., with an aftertaste of nearly the same length. It's a very fine, by-the-book XO for those who prefer bold cognac (or bold wine)... It might be a little too bold for my preference, but it's a good one nonetheless.

The cost is definitely noticeable. A full-bodied flavor is sometimes all you want. However, the long history and expertise of the Martell lineage are evident in this bottle, presenting delightful hints of pepper and a mix of spices. It pairs well with red meats.

I like this better than Cordon Bleu. Based on my recollection, I rate Hennessey XO slightly higher, but this is a pleasant, rich, spicy, oaky, fruity flavor. The aftertaste is good but a bit short. I purchased it duty-free for less than $120 USD, which is a reasonable price.

Origin: France Region: Cognac Alcohol Content: 40% Alc. Volume: 700ml Color: Golden amber with deep copper and mahogany highlights. Nose: A spicy, pungent sensation with aromas of black and pink peppercorns and coriander, alongside rich notes of fig, walnut, and sandalwood. Taste: Intense flavors of fig, red fruits, and blackcurrant buds fully express the power and finesse of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, resulting in an exceptionally long and robust body.

Pepper and caramel on the nose. The taste begins with pepper/spice that softens into plum/raisin and vanilla, with a lingering aftertaste of caramel, cherry, and almond. A delightful drink!
