Consumed neat. It has a lovely amber copper hue. The nose presents oak, smoke, caramel, cooked agave, cocoa, butterscotch, and mint. The palate offers cooked agave, oak, light caramel, char, pepper, vanilla, and mild herbaceous notes akin to tarragon and cilantro. The finish is moderately long and evolves, starting with a gentle agave sweetness, cocoa, vanilla, oak, and a slight numbing sensation from the alcohol, which gradually subsides, revealing faint barrel sweetness and black pepper. Overall, there are numerous flavors to discover throughout the tasting experience, and it is well-balanced with a medium body. The additives appear less pronounced than in other extra añejos at this price point, and even compared to their own añejo. It offers good value for a supposedly 5-year-old extra añejo, serving as a good alternative for those who enjoy aged rye.
