To all the 1942 aficionados like I used to be, do yourselves a favor and try this Extra Añejo. It's a third of the price and packed with so much flavor that I did a blind taste test between this and 1942, and I haven't ordered 1942 since. Identical aging process, same high-quality components... it's a clear choice.

About this bottle
The Auténtico Alacrán brand, based in Mexico City, introduced this extra añejo tequila in 2016. The tequila is made from blue weber agave, aged 7 to 10 years, harvested from Jalisco's Los Altos region. It underwent 40 months of maturation in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon. This tequila is bottled at 40% ABV.

Outstanding value! This Extra Añejo is an excellent substitute for bourbon in Manhattans due to its sherry notes, or it can be enjoyed neat.
Smooth, with a faint smoky taste.
