Mackmyra Vintersol

Nose: Fresh lingonberry jam, apricot, light floral honey, starfruit. Palate: Gentle fresh blackberries, a slight bitterness akin to blackberry seeds, lingonberry, light sweet honey, black pepper, vanilla, and poached pears in red wine. Finish: Mild black pepper spice, sweet poached pear, vanilla caramel, and creamy/buttery fruit. Score: 84/100 Final Thoughts: This was a decent dram, but not exceptional. It has a pleasant fruity black pepper influence from start to finish, with nice poached pear notes and hints of fresh lingonberries and blackberries. The palate has pleasant creamy/buttery notes throughout. Overall, it's a very easy-to-sip Swedish single malt. I wouldn't guess ex-port for this, as I don't get the typical dark fruit from port finishes; I'd expect something more like a sweet rose. Nevertheless, it's enjoyable throughout, though not as good as other Mackmyra expressions I've had. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Maybe Would I buy a bottle? - Probably not another NOTE - Price is not considered in any reviews.

Delicious and rich, but not very lingering. A touch of spice appears after a few sips. Wine-like. Sweet. Delightful.
