What a superb pour! People can say what they like about Macallan. It’s pricey, it doesn't justify its cost, it’s a major marketing operation, it’s not truthful with its patrons, it lacks the honor of other labels, it doesn't provide the proof others do… But concerning their premium releases, wow! They truly perform! For years, I was easily swayed by a Macallan. Then I discovered other labels that offer so much more for so much less. Subsequently, I received this bottle and I’m once again falling for a Macallan. Can I claim it’s nearly impossible to find a bottle offering such an incredible journey? This is the one you desire. Let’s examine it: Smell – caramel, cigar leaf, hide, a hint of preserved fruit spread, there’s even a subtle blossom aroma alongside that sweet cream, caramel. It’s simply magnificent! Taste: caramel is very prominent with a touch of a peppery note and walnut kernels. The end: it persists for some time with a walnut confection topped with syrup. A very fine and extended finish. I'm somewhat perplexed. Why must we spend so much for such pleasure? Macallan truly excels when the cost is elevated. Why can't they offer comparable quality at lower price points? Why can't they simply maintain that same standard across the board? This bottle warrants a perfect score. However, the price was too steep for that, hence it receives a 4.75. To your health!
