Thaddeus Payne 3.5

There are limited options for high-proof cognacs available, and those that are can be quite pricey, making this a good value in many respects. The nose presents vanilla and oak, but the palate opens up with cocoa, cinnamon, and tobacco flavors. The finish has a noticeable warmth, as expected from a high-proof spirit, with good length and spicy notes. As a sipping cognac, this might require some adjustment due to the considerable heat from the high proof, particularly if you're accustomed to standard 80-proof cognacs. However, the value is excellent, and it's an ideal cognac for numerous cocktails, though you might need to adjust the quantities. Adding a small amount of water also enhances this cognac when drinking it neat, but again, if you're seeking a high-proof cognac, this is likely your best financial choice.

Enrique Fischer 3.5

An intense VSOP expression from Louis Royer, bottled at 53% ABV. It starts with notes of vanilla, lime zest, and crushed grape. The palate offers notes of dried fruits, sultanas, prunes, butter, and oak. The finish is long, with hints of spice, leather, and lace.

Leonard Story 4.0

Considering its strength, it's not too overpowering. It has prominent notes of grape, apple, and oak.
