I have a weakness for port and Springbank is among my top 3 distilleries, making this Longrow a genuine pleasure. On the nose, I detect raspberries, red currants, and a barnyard scent, with a vibrant, mineral, and acidic character. Embers, leather, and peppercorn join in. The arrival is a sweet and sour explosion of strawberry cream, prunes, and earthy tannins, followed by pink grapefruit, cocoa, and a briny peat smoke. The balance is exceptional.
