Lohin McKinnon Bordeaux Finished Peated Single Malt

Aroma: Dark chocolate with berry notes, light Turkish tobacco smoke, smoked cheddar, smoked meats, rich molasses, a whisper of maple, manuka honey, hot and sweet chili peppers, wintergreen, honey and toffee, moderately aged caramel, classic chocolate malt/paint scent, red berries (white cranberry, strawberry, raspberry), light grape bubblegum, white pepper, rich dark oak sweetness, faint peat smoke, pickled mushrooms, green and black cured olives, earthy peat, apples and nectarines, candied lemon and lime zest, slight grape must, toasted marshmallows. Palate: Manuka honey, wintergreen, blueberry mint compote, mild oakiness, candied orange peel with black pepper, spicy oak, jalapeño, red apple skin, sweet oak and toasted marshmallow, light mixed berries (white and red cranberry, raspberry, strawberry), wine must, sweet malt, candied lemon and lime zest. Finish: Faint smoky coastal peat, mint and lavender floral notes, mixed apple skins, mild sweet oak, slight green bell pepper, fresh sweet lemon juice, sweet herbal notes, sweet honey, red apple and malt.

The aroma is okay. A hint of peat is pleasant. The wine cask influence is not apparent and is overwhelmed by the peat. It finishes weakly and is a bit fiery for its alcohol content.
