Loch Lomond The Open Special Edition 2019 is one of two single malt Scotch whiskies released by the distillery for its sponsorship of The Open Championship, which is being held this year in Portrush, Northern Ireland. Master distiller Michael Henry created this no-age statement single malt. It was matured in first-fill and refill American oak ex-bourbon casks and refill American oak hogsheads. This single malt is understood to incorporate four distinct spirit styles, a capability enabled by the distillery's distinctive pot stills.

Nose: Vanilla, cream, peach. Palate: Floral, apricot, lychee, oak, vanilla, resembling old-fashioned car sweets or boiled sweets. Finish: Medium length with hints of smoke. Notes of stone fruit and orchard fruit. This is a great whisky for summer. It's very easy to drink, not overpowering, but it is a fresh and tasty dram.

Exceptional value. It's peaty and somewhat smoky, presenting as a light Highland malt with the peat and smoke typically found in an Islay. I suspect negative feedback stems from unfamiliarity with peaty scotch or an undeveloped palate for it. A fine scotch.
Opinions vary widely on this one. I suspect the negative reviews stem from its connection to a certain golfer, a famously unpleasant individual. Fair enough, but disregarding the obnoxious personalities, this bottle offers excellent value.
It tastes distinctly like ass with hints of toe cheese. I'm rating it one star because it might be useful as an accelerant or fuel for my lawnmower.
