My initial encounter with Loch Lomond, and it was quite an experience. Mild peat, leaning more toward earth than smoke. A fitting sweetness emerged later. It possesses a distinct malty funk or savory note absent in Islay peated scotches. Not salty or briny, yet still savory. A fantastic whisky in my opinion, offering something novel. This highland delivers the right balance of peat and sweetness.
