Nose: Caramel. A subtle peat influence. It bears a slight resemblance to Oban 14. A kind of nutty fruitiness is present. The overall impression is somewhat muddled, with a blended character. Not particularly impressive. Palate: Rich and oily. Notes of spice and herbs. Some nuttiness. Tobacco. A hint of peat. Significantly improved from the nose. Finish: Medium in length. Dark nuts, tobacco, (dark) chocolate, and leather. Overall: The nose is mediocre at best, while the palate and finish are genuinely excellent. I rate it 3.75 (comparable to the 12-year-old), acknowledging my fondness for Loch Lomond's herbal, nutty profile (which I consider a typical characteristic across most of their whiskies).

Currently priced at $47 in Sweden, this 15-year-old offering represents excellent value. The aroma presents notes of vanilla sweetness, possibly hints of smoke, and honey. The palate delivers sweet vanilla, honey, and some peat that evolves into anise, with a pronounced oak and pepper presence. The finish amplifies the oak notes, complemented by further traces of anise, honey, and smoke. This sample came from a sampler pack, and given the current attractive pricing, I may well purchase a full bottle. This sampler pack has consistently provided enjoyable discoveries.
The aroma is sweet, featuring honeyed fruits and bananas, possibly also fresh orchard apples and spice – I detect both. The taste is sweet caramel with a velvety texture. The finish is peppery and spicy, with a lasting impression. Adding water enhances the vanilla and apple pie notes in the aroma. The taste remains largely unchanged. The finish gains a touch of peat warmth, complementing the long, peppery conclusion. This spirit is inviting and goes down quite smoothly. I'm pleasantly surprised.
A very potent peppery flavor, but the aroma is lacking.
