Gabriela Burdette 3.8

Appearance: Russet color. Swirling creates a thick residue on the glass, with slow-forming legs. Nose: Sweet vanilla, oak, rye, peach fuzz, a touch of green apple, and a hint of fresh nutmeg. Palate: Very smooth with mild sweetness. Caramel is prominent, accompanied by green apple, rye, orange zest, and dark chocolate. Finish: Medium length. White pepper initiates the experience, followed by a brief floral note before drying out with oak and baking spices. Concludes with a slight saltiness. With Water: A few drops introduce white pepper to the palate, reducing smoothness. Ginger appears at the beginning of the finish. Overall: This unique bourbon was a gift from someone who doesn't consume brown spirits. I'm pleased to have had the chance to sample it, but it's not something I would personally recommend or purchase.

My fifth and final review from my visit to the distillery last weekend. I had to save the best for last, and the Double Barrelled Bourbon was indeed my favorite of the five I tasted... and thus it won the honor of being the one 750 mil bottle purchase I made that day. Color: Medium amber-copper Nose: Oak, tart/bitter cherry Palate: Mild sweetness and spiciness with just a little heat. The tart cherry from the nose reappears towards the back end. What I often do is check the nose again, after a few sips, to see if I pick up anything further... and sure enough, I got some "tart candy" (think "Smarties" or "Pezz"). Interesting. Finish: Medium with some orange peel and more spice. Solid 3.75 stars for my first (at home) tasting. I'd not be surprised if I end up raising it to a 4, upon further pours.

Tastes like Banana Runts. The aroma is more balanced. It has a good body with a slight bite. Notes of uncooked rolls and oak tannins are present.

Trevon Trevino 4.0

Not quite as good as the 10-year, but it has a very pleasant brown sugar taste and a nice finish.
