Largo Bay Spiced Rum

A rich, flavored Rum from Puerto Rico, crafted with local sugar cane molasses and fermented using the distillery's natural yeast. Its aromatic profile begins with notes of sugar cane, fruit, nuts, and spices. The full and rich body develops flavors of dark sugar, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, caramel, and vanilla. It concludes with a sweet and creamy finish of medium length, featuring a hint of honey. December 2021

The aromas are vanilla and cream soda. There's also a bit of isopropyl alcohol, but not as strong as in some others. A hint of butterscotch candy is present. The palate is decent too. Butterscotch hits first, followed by a middling taste of rock candy. Then the finish arrives quickly and is a bit harsh. The aftertaste returns to rubbing alcohol. It's better than the silver version, but still just okay.

This rum is acceptable for mixing. It's so floral it tastes like perfume, and the watery flavor doesn't improve things. There's a faint trace of caramel, but the perfume flavor dominates. Unless you require the most inexpensive rum available, choose Sailor Jerry or George Ocean instead.

I considered this a very good spiced rum. Primarily used in cocktails or with cola.

Mixed with ginger beer, which was adequate.

If Jagermeister were a rum
