Larceny Barrel Proof Single Barrel

Aroma: Cinnamon and peaches. Taste: Spicy. A little too light for my liking, not very flavorful. A more experienced palate might detect more nuances, but I'm a novice. Finish: Lingering warmth (in a positive way). Overall: Not my preferred choice for everyday drinking, as I'm not a big fan of wheat whiskeys. I think it would excel as a mixer; I'll try it in a Manhattan soon.

There's a touch of warmth on the finish, and it lacks depth and complexity. I can understand why it sits on shelves. Superior bourbons exist in this proof range that are less expensive and better. It requires more time aging. My rating was 76.

Tasted from a shared bottle; this single barrel was selected for the 2018 Kentucky Bourbon Affair. My assessment was entirely positive. It presented a deep, robust flavor of toffee. Good body and minimal burn. I wish I could locate a bottle. I would definitely purchase it.

125.1 proof. 68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley. Tastes like apple pie, cinnamon, brown sugar, caramel, creamy vanilla, charred oak, toasted butter popcorn, chocolate, sour mash, shredded wheat cereal, jelly donut, molasses.

It was a bit too intense for my preference. Compared to EH Taylor BP, I much prefer the Taylor, which offered more engaging flavors alongside the heat. This lacked compelling flavors that held my interest.

Consumed neat, it's pure ethanol; but what can be expected at 125 proof? Adding a bit of water significantly enhances the drink's complexity. It's best enjoyed with ice or a small amount of water.
