About this bottle

Laphroaig's Elements series aims to showcase innovation in whisky production. This 1.0 release incorporates three experimental elements: a 50:50 blend of cloudy and semi-cloudy wort (typically only semi-cloudy is used), the use of both an 8.5-tonne and an 11-tonne mash size to represent past and present production scales, and the use of 100% Islay malt. Bottled at 58.6% ABV, Elements 1.0 was introduced in October 2023, with further releases planned for 2024. The suggested retail price is $205.

Gino Goodrich 5.0

Immediately among my top 5 peated scotches regardless of age or distillery. The aroma is intense, with smoked bacon covered in fruit jam. The palate was equally strong and full, bringing more like pineapple and salted meat. The finish is long and lingering where the fruitiness, saltiness and smokiness perfectly alternate from front to back. This is a masterpiece by Laphroaig and my favorite offering from them to date.

Jefferson Ogden 4.5

The tobacco note in this batch is what makes it stand out--quite delicious.

Really solid. Very smoky, a bit of apricot, pear. Really smooth

Margret Negron 3.5

Tastes of caramel and is sweeter than a typical Laphroaig.
