About this bottle

Created by Master Blender Robert Hicks for the 2010 Fèis Ìle event, the Laphroaig Càirdeas 2010 Master Edition is a blend of whiskies ranging from 11 to 19 years old. It comprises 50% whisky aged in bourbon hogsheads for 11 years and 50% whisky aged for 15, 17, and 19 years, all in first-fill bourbon casks. This edition is bottled at 57.3% ABV.

Sampled this at the Feis Ile Cairdeas tasting, it was nice and tropical. Nose: Vanilla, Figs, Coal, Smoke, Apricots, Bacon, Pineapples, Golden Kiwis, Quince Jam, Coconuts, Mangoes Palate: Vanilla, Smoke, Iodine, Pineapples, Cherries, Oranges, Lavender, Pears Finish: Pears, Vanilla, Marshmallows, Papayas, Chili Peppers, Barbecue Pork Ribs, Almonds, Guava

Similar to the Laga 11 this isn't really a style for me I believe. More astringent lighter peated flavor. It is to the Laphroaig CS 10 what the Laga 11 is to the Laga 16. The former drams more tighter, astringent, slightly acidic peat versus the richer profiles of the latter which I preferred. Thanks for the chance to try a friend!
