The nose offers fruit with subtle smoke. The palate reveals cherry, prune, Dr Pepper, smoked meats, and earthiness. A lengthy finish allows a mild peat to emerge. The mouthfeel is pleasantly oily. This remains one of the finest whiskeys I've encountered, even after trying more aged Laphroigs. It still impresses, possibly surpassing the DTD22, though that one is more distinctly a Laphroaig.
