Kweichow Moutai Yingbin

I've frequently noticed this spirit/wine in auctions, with unbelievably high prices that caught my eye. I initially mistook it for whisky. Moutai Baiju is China's top-selling alcoholic beverage, crafted from wheat and sorghum. This particular bottling is at 53% ABV. The nose begins with aniseed and Merthiolate; it strongly resembles Welsh grape juice, with wheat and currant notes present. The palate is quite spicy, featuring grape and rice flavors. The aftertaste is very medicinal, with Merthiolate-like notes. Overall, it felt more like wine than anything else. I genuinely enjoyed it, but it's not exceptional, and it certainly doesn't warrant the current prices exceeding $300. The best part was receiving it for free, allowing me to tick it off my list. My rating is 83 out of 100.
