Considered China's National Spirit, this spirit originates from the town of Moutai (or Maotai) in China's Guizhou province. It is produced using a fermented wheat culture called a "qu," which is then combined with red sorghum for fermentation. Following distillation, it ages for 3-4 years in earthenware jars. The aged distillate is then blended with spirits from various years and ages, potentially up to 200 different distillates, until the master blender approves. It is classified as a sauce aroma baijiu. This particular bottle is highly esteemed in Chinese culture and is served at official state dinners, weddings, and other banquets.

I tried this at a friend's place, marking my first experience with Baijiu. It presents numerous intriguing fruity esters, but it makes my mouth recoil, despite my extensive experience with high-proof whiskies, rums, brandies, tequilas, and mezcals. Nose: Guava, Banana, Mango, Pineapple, Papaya, Citrus, Earth, Orange, Peach, Watermelon Palate: Grain, Tropical Fruit, Vanilla, Creamy Finish: Tropical Fruit, Chocolate, Cherry, Coconut
A combination of diesel fuel and sewage.
