Nose: Fantastic nose - heavy vanilla, brown sugar, molasses… Rich. Truly, really good. Palate: Thick mouthfeel, slightly medicinal, and okay. Finish: Long finish - medicinal notes quickly transition to oak, which fades into a high-proof spicy rye burn. This also fades, leaving an oaky residue. The nose is the strongest aspect of this whiskey. Unfortunately, these excellent flavors don't carry through to the palate. Oakiness and alcohol dominate. Still solid. Edit: As the sample sat, the sweetness lingered much longer, and the oakiness diminished.
