Kirkland Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey

Kirkland TN Whiskey (Age Stated 4 Years) NOSE: Surprisingly intense and robust. Reminiscent of dessert with maple syrup, vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and oak spice. NEAT: The nose promised intensity, but the palate doesn't quite deliver. It's light, almost floral. Notes of Juicy Fruit Gum, oak char and tannins, with a touch of spice. The finish has a mild Tennessee warmth, leaving oak char and mint coating the palate. SPLASH: It slightly sweetens the tannins but doesn't significantly alter the profile. VERDICT: About what I anticipated from sourced Dickel. Essentially a less polished version of Dickel No.8. Drinkable neat or on the rocks, but it's more suited for highballs and whisky sours. For $26 a 1.75L bottle, this is a serviceable workhorse spirit to keep on hand.

This is what one might expect for the cost and from that particular retailer. It’s a smooth, easy spirit. The nose hints at high corn content, very sweet, with light vanilla. The initial taste is creamy corn, vanilla, and caramel. A slight burn and a quick finish. It’s not remarkable, but it’s a decent buy for the price. It reminds me quite a bit of mellow corn, but with more typical whiskey characteristics.

Incredibly smooth! The aroma has a pleasant autumnal maple sweetness. The sip is exceptionally mellow and smooth, though it could use a bit more flavor. It's definitely heavy on the maple, which is great. Lingers with a watery, refreshing feel. Nothing wrong with it, but I'd prefer more sophisticated tastes.

Sweet, easy to drink. The low alcohol content makes it good for sipping without water or ice. The aroma has hints of maple, and the finish is smooth but brief. Considering the cost, this is quite accessible.

Overpowering corn and maple syrup flavor. This will be on the lowest shelf for years – not enough alcohol content to even function as a disinfectant! Extremely disappointing.

Aroma of maple syrup. The taste is rich and oily. Far more intricate than I had anticipated. Low proof, but a solid value, particularly for mixing.
