King's Creek 9 Year Tennessee Whiskey

Aroma: caramel and vanilla Initial taste: Tastes exactly like another well-known brand to me. A nutty quality, like peanut brittle, which is precisely what comes to mind when I think of that brand. It's very smooth, probably because of its age. After it rests: I don't know. I keep forgetting to let it rest. With water added: Removes all the spice. Sweetens it slightly, but makes it too weak. Perhaps I added too much water. A hint of black tea and caramel on the finish. Finish: Medium-long, a bit spicy. Actually, the finish becomes even spicier the more you drink. Honestly... considering the price and age statement, I don't understand the negative reviews. I enjoy it. I own much pricier spirits that aren't this satisfying. To be fair, my experience with whiskeys from that region is limited (my father drank brands from that region, so I might be a little biased), so I can't compare it to those specifically. It tastes identical to another brand I love. I detect no notes of certain vitamin supplements or orange candy. (I kind of wish I did - I love those orange candies.)

The flavor profile brings to mind sugary citrus confection and hints of buttery popcorn. It evokes memories of snacking on the floor at a cinema. Furthermore, my research suggests this is a Total Wine exclusive, making most other Tennessee whiskeys (even their Lonehand offering) a superior choice.
