Kilchoman 100% Islay (2nd Edition)

It has a crystal straw color. The nose has creamy peat, with notes of freshly mown grass and bright pale berries. The creaminess dominates the nose, managing a balance of sweet and almost overripe notes. It washes over the tongue freshly, with bright acidity despite the moderate peat and that this is the bottom of the bottle. A subtle smokiness surrounds a confident green palate. There's almost a foot-like note and sweetness, similar to cognac. This is truly one of the more intriguing and dynamic drams I've had. I'm eager to open the next bottle.

Less fruity than the third edition. A good amount of peat and smoke, but strange notes of oil and gasoline. Fortunately, the odd notes were faint. However, I would not buy this again.

Pear & cinnamon overpower the peat on the nose. Peat intensifies on the palate with smooth banana & vanilla notes. Tastes like iced lemon cookies. Adding water is essential.

Sixth Edition Peaty nose, malted barley, a little woody, perhaps some fruit? Finish is moderate, cereal/barley. Tasted at Lochside in Bowmore on 7/27/2016

The initial aroma was quite surprising. A sweet, not overly smoky or peaty whisky. It possesses a rather rich, medium to full body.

Gentle smoke, somewhat grassy, a good start for peaty Scotch.
