This straight bourbon is produced in Kentucky using grains sourced from the central U.S. It undergoes maturation for a minimum of four years in new, charred American oak barrels and is bottled at 80 proof.

The aroma is unpleasant and off, with a yeasty character, as if the oak and spirit never truly integrated and simply coexisted in an underground bunker at a constant temperature, allowing only surface contact. The palate follows this spirit-forward, raw grain profile that just doesn't feel right. The finish is thankfully brief, though grainy and cloyingly fruity during its short, miserable existence.
Nose: Peanuts, vanilla. Palate: Light, grassy. Finish: Short, tannic. The label reads 'Kentucky's Best,' but this is not. This TJ private label is sourced from Lux Row. The liquid appears light and tastes light. It's likely best suited as a mixer or for deglazing pans.
This is a difficult pour. The nose has minimal character, offering just a hint of caramel and watered-down tangerine. The palate presents smooth oaky vanilla, with floral, peachy notes on the finish. The finish is medium, which is unexpected for a 40% ABV whiskey.
Certainly not among the best from Kentucky. A thin and papery flavor. The finish has alcohol heat and spice, but a watery taste lingers. Definitely bottom shelf material.
80 proof. $16. Notes of charred oak, corn, apples, cinnamon, toasted caramel, wheat, orange, and vanilla. It tastes stronger than its proof and has a buttery quality. Excellent for the price.
It tastes young, bright, and a little sweet, with a harsh edge. I really don't enjoy it.
