About this bottle

Spiritless Kentucky 74 is a non-alcoholic beverage created to imitate bourbon using oak and high-proof neutral grain spirit. The brand employs a special reverse distillation process to remove alcohol. This vegan, keto-friendly product is made with all-natural ingredients and can be stored unopened for up to 12 months at room temperature; Spiritless suggests serving it in cocktails rather than neat.

My first go with a "spirit" that has no alcohol. The idea feels like a contradiction, and I'm likely a complete idiot for purchasing this, but whatever. Nose: It has the aroma of a root beer popsicle that's melted. Palate: Surprisingly awful straight up. It reminds me of Jack Daniels and Dr. Pepper that went through old gym socks and then sat beneath a sofa for a while. Finish: I wish it would disappear faster. When mixed with plenty of soda water and some Angostura bitters, it becomes at least tolerable. But seriously, I'll stick with my non-alcoholic beer for a booze-free beverage. I guess you have to try things once.

I can tell they were aiming for added oakiness, but it didn't work. It tastes sour, as if it has spoiled. There's also a peculiar peppery note on the finish.

Unpleasant notes of weak, steeped tea and flat apple juice. Cannot drink this.

Tastes like stale, old Dr Pepper. Not good.
