A gin tasting event in Sydney on November 6th, 2018. Gin #4. Smell: Earthy and botanical, reminiscent of snapped green branches. Sweetness from juniper, warm vanilla, and a hint of citrus. [The aroma from an empty glass is almond and vanilla petals]. Taste: A delicate wave of sweet juniper opens to a palate that is botanical with gentle lemon sherbet flavors and a touch of mint. The texture is exceptional – very rich, well-rounded, creamy, and warming with absolutely no alcoholic bite. Aftertaste: Medium in length. Sweet, botanical, and woody with subtle lemon/mint notes lingering. The aroma is wonderfully fresh and botanical, yet it's gentle and relaxed instead of sharp or invigorating. It also takes a moment to reveal itself, requiring some attention to fully appreciate. The taste follows suit, being sweet but understated and delicate. This distillery is a new operation situated in the hills near western Sydney. The owners and distillers took their time and experimented extensively before launching this product, and their patience has yielded excellent results. It was a strong contender when compared to another excellent gin tasted just before it, sharing similar characteristics like woody notes and a velvety smooth palate. I purchased a bottle, indicating my approval. Recommended. Score: 86/100 (4 stars)
