Appearance: Slightly hazy dark brown, resembling weak black coffee when held to a bright light. Aroma: Very subtle coffee notes, more akin to coffee or chicory essence than espresso or fresh grounds. Hints of caramel and vanilla. Flavor: Starts very sweet and syrupy, easily mistaken for a coffee syrup for cooking. Vanilla and caramel toffee are present without much complexity. However, a distinct salted caramel candy flavor emerges and lingers. It's intensely sweet; I can feel my blood sugar rising. Kahlua has always been too sweet and one-dimensional for my taste, and this is no different. However, it excels when poured over homemade vanilla ice cream or hazelnut gelato. Drinking it neat is akin to consuming neat Grenadine – not recommended. Instead, use it creatively as an ingredient. For the price, a small 350ml bottle is a worthwhile experiment. Rating: Adequate (72/100, 2 stars)
