A balanced Rye Whiskey from Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan, made with 60% organic rye and 40% organic wheat. Aged in new white oak barrels, this batch had only 800 bottles. The aroma is rich with notes of grains, wood, fruits, herbs, and spices. The taste is spicy, with notes of citrus, pepper, banana, wheat, vanilla, and caramel, leading to a long, dry, and warm finish with notes of grain, baking spice, and pepper. This review covers batches from May/September 2019 and August 2022.
