An excellent bottling of Johnnie Walker, this special blue label edition is technically a cask strength offering at 55.8% alcohol by volume. The aroma is a bit unusual, reminiscent of Bruichladdich's classic laddie. In fact, it strongly resembles that bottling on the nose, presenting notes of soap, rice, hand cream, and herbs. The palate was magnificent, featuring dry cake, chocolate, pepper, prune, a smoky impression, wasabi, and ginger. It's complex and skillfully made, among the finest JW expressions. Despite its 55.8% alcohol by volume, it doesn't feel particularly strong. The finish is zesty with ginger nuances. Overall, it earns a solid 93 out of 100, though the cost is prohibitive. Even as a good dram with a lovely porcelain bottle, it's excessively priced (around $550). Cheers!
