This is truly disappointing. For a bottle that costs $1,000, I wouldn't even pay $40. Bottled at 40% ABV, no age statement, blended malt Scotch whisky, with a tawny color, and most certainly colored. You know I typically award high marks to fine whiskies, but that's not the case here. The nose wasn't too bad: honey, hazelnut, red apples, cinnamon, maple syrup, and lemon after a while. It bears some resemblance to Japanese whiskies. The aroma seems artificial, like overly caramelized sugar. On the palate, it starts off hot and bitter. After a couple of seconds, some dry, brown chocolate cake emerges. The burning sensation comes from a spice, definitively licorice in an unpleasant manner. The finish leaves the mouth feeling dry, with a touch of bitterness. The aftertaste has a simple, cheap pepper flavor. Overall, I'm giving it a very fair score of 62 out of 100. For a thousand bucks... man, what else can I say...

I loved this whiskey. Got the opportunity to try it at one of the Johnny Walker houses. I’m not well off per se so I don’t get to try high end scotch very often. So smooth and complex.
Tried this for the first time tonight. It's alright but has a harsh finish. I can't believe they are selling it for $1300. Gold is still the best in the range.
