Chivas Regal Ultis marks the brand's inaugural blended malt, featuring components from the Tormore, Longmorn, Strathisla, Allt-á-Bhainne, and Braeval distilleries. The five Speyside malts were chosen to honor the five Master Blenders who have served Chivas Regal since the iconic expression's debut in 1909: Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang, and Colin Scott. This bottling carries no age statement, is presented at 40% ABV, and became available worldwide starting in October 2016.

Nose: hazelnuts, cherries, orange marmalade, ginger. Palate: ginger, sweet paprika, apricot and orange marmalade, chocolate with hazelnuts, elegant and balanced. Finish: exceptionally well-balanced and of medium length, leaving a perfect taste in the mouth. Outstanding whisky, truly excellent, making me completely reconsider blended malts after finding JW Green Label uninspiring. A revelation... Rating 4.75
I got to tell you, this new expression is above average and it is very drinkable. The first Blended Malt for the Chivas family, Ultis is a blend from 5 different malts (undisclosed but I bet one is Strathisla). On the nose, Pepper, Orange jam; Starts promising, some Stinky vanilla cream (like Johnnie Walker Red Label); a little Simple on the nose. Notes of Nuts coming after a sip. On the palate... Water, at first. Then Spices like clove and pepper. Absolutely smooth. Very fancy. Elegant but not flavorful. Second sip: caramel. Finish with ginger nogs, short but pleasant. Overall this is a bottle I would buy. My score for this, 89 over 100. Solid.
I sampled this blend last week and must say it is truly superb. The inclusion of Longmorn whiskey enhances its creaminess, and I found myself desiring more even after adding several drops of water. I wished the Braeval and Allt'bhainne malts were available for purchase, as this whisky is truly remarkable.
Tasted at Dramfest '18, this was the first dram on day two. It's a decent blend, earning a 3.5 rating, but considering the price of nearly $190 a bottle, the value proposition drops to a 3. After reading the distillery's description, I realized this tasting allowed me to try five of the remaining twenty Scottish distilleries I hadn't yet experienced. Unfortunately, I'm only counting single malts, so my list remains at twenty.
This blend is a crowd-pleaser and simply amazing. Vanilla with ginger and spice, finishing well – very nice! However, I still can't justify the cost. From a whisky tasting event on September 13, 2017.
Subtly smoky, medium to full-bodied, with a hint of spice and sweetness towards the end. The best Chinese regal I've sampled to date.
