John's Alabama Single Malt Whiskey

Distinctive, top-notch, and delightful overall. This had been on my must-try list for ages... possibly years. I never found it locally, then traveled across state lines today and there it was. Nose: Fruity. Red apple and peach stand out from the glass. Intense big red cinnamon throughout the nose. Malty richness. Hints of fireplace smoke. A little caramel. Taste: A burst of vanilla and honey, plus a touch of pear. So the sweetness from the nose carries through. I get peach with the American Malts sometimes, and this is no different (I don't think it's the peach wood influencing my judgment lol). Finish: Coats the mouth and is an almost perfect finish. Not too potent, but not too weak. Gradually fades after a slight kick. Leaves you with vanilla custard, some brown sugar, and more of that peach wood alongside a hint of smoke. Overall: Exceeds expectations for its proof. Packed with flavor. Unique tastes. All at a fair price. I will replace this one when it's gone.

A delightful serving. I'm enthusiastic about the continued growth of American Single Malt spirits in the US. The aroma is sweet, spicy, and a bit fruity. The palate strongly featured pecan, with a hint of creme brulee. A nutty finish, but I found it incredibly easy to drink. It was made about half an hour from my hometown. Tasted at a restaurant in Alabama. 2022 update: I've heard newer batches are even better than the one I tried before, so I plan to get another bottle soon.

Nose: wood, sugary wood Body: medium Palate: wood, a Kentucky hug is noticeable from the start. Apricot appears on the second taste. Malt shows up third. After that, abundant fruity maltiness Finish: brief malt Comment: a neat story, from Nate. This is intriguing, tastes more like a young scotch than a bourbon, but it's not a bourbon so

Nose - Honey, a little smoke Taste - malt and honey, fruit (peaches?) with a smokey character. Finish: smoky honey A pleasant spirit for regular sipping. Glad to enjoy a single malt from my home state. I found this undrinkable with a harsh young malt sourness when I first tried it nearly two years ago. It has improved significantly since then.

I was really hoping to find an Alabama-made whiskey that I enjoyed... this is not it. My history with the state from attending university might have clouded my judgment. I will absolutely never purchase this again.

Nose: orange and lemon citrus, a little stone fruit sweetness, orange blossom honey. Palate: sweet flavors, white peach, very floral, slight lemon cleaner on the back end, and a spicy finish.
