About this bottle

Jim Beam Kentucky Dram is bourbon with a Scotch influence, specifically Ardmore, a lightly peated Highland whisky. The spirit matures in heavily charred barrels that previously held bourbon. It debuted in 2015, available only in the Travel Retail Market.

Brenda Roark 2.5

The aroma is a mild blend of smoke and charred oak, with floral notes and hints of leather gradually appearing. It's rather uncomplicated – your typical Beam offering with a touch of smoky scotch. The palate is smooth and somewhat creamy, likely due to the scotch's influence, ending with a slight spicy kick. It tastes 'good' but is quite one-dimensional, with little complexity to explore. The finish is brief, with the existing flavors abruptly ceasing. It's enjoyable for an 80-proof sipper at a good price. A very casual whisky that has its place.

As one might expect, it doesn't excel as either a peaty Whisky or a sweet Bourbon. An interesting experiment, but I've only enjoyed it when mixed with Ginger Ale.

Rickie Hoffman 3.3

It's hard to discern the peaty scotch, but it's an enjoyable little whiskey; campfire does a better job at this.

Jonah Lynn 3.5

A tasty and unique experience. Both spirits express themselves well throughout the tasting.
