Jesse James Bourbon

It has a subtly sweet, creamy, caramel-like aroma. Initially, the palate offers more creamy banana, which overshadows the young, raw woodiness. It's not very intricate, but it's very easy to drink. It reminds me of a young expression from a particular distillery. I'm revisiting this bottle months later and here are my updated impressions... The nose has sweet citrus, the mouthfeel is smooth corn whiskey, and the palate presents typical char from young barrels with a hint of rye spice on the finish.

The aroma presents a strong alcohol scent mixed with buttery caramel. The palate is less intense, featuring caramel, mint, and corn. It's comparable to a young Old Forester without the herbal notes, or perhaps a milder Rebel Yell with a slightly better kick. A solid choice for drinking around a campfire.

An acceptable bourbon for mixing. I bought a bottle some years ago and am just now tasting it. However, I believe the name is misleading. The creator is Jesse James Dupree, the lead singer of the band Jackyl. He claims to be descended from the famous Outlaw.

Jesse James Bourbon (reviewing the 2-year-aged expression) shows a pale, chestnut hue and consistent alcohol viscosity. The nose carries notes of sweet corn, and the palate echoes this with a touch of light charred oak. Jesse James has a light-to-medium body and a swift to moderate finish. RJT

Vanilla and red berries on the nose with a hint of ethanol. On the palate, it's exceptionally light. Cornbread sweetness is dominant with smooth vanilla. One of the least complex whiskies I've encountered in a very long time, yet still well-balanced.

It resembles bourbon. Perhaps a touch of peat. It doesn't have a lot of flavor. I was informed it was inexpensive but good. It might be suitable if your aim is intoxication. It's not good if you desire a pleasant taste.
