Jeptha Creed Four Grain Straight Bourbon

A friend offered me a sample of this as a joke, and to help clear out some of his bottle. Nose - I can't even begin to describe it. It starts like a young, immature bourbon but then shifts to truly rancid and putrid notes. Taste - So, the rule here is you MUST hold your nose while drinking this. You simply cannot stomach it if you can smell it; it smells that bad. Okay, so it actually opens up quite sweet; I almost like it initially. It then, sadly, like the nose, transitions into off-putting chemical-like notes. Strange malted flavors. While not a complete failure, it's downright terrible overall. I'd rate the taste 1 star; it's drinkable. The nose, however, is so bad you need to hold your breath to be near it. This is a classic bottom-shelf gag whiskey and should only be bought as a joke to play on friends.

This bourbon presents a pale copper hue and displays very thin, syrupy legs. The aroma is immature, featuring notes of dryness, corn husks, wild blooms, and vanilla. The palate is likewise immature and sharp. Flavors of scorched caramel, artificial vanilla icing, simple syrup, and pine resin compete, yet none truly dominate. The finish begins with heat before quickly fading into an anticlimactic conclusion. It's unfortunate, as this bourbon seemed destined for greatness! A straight bourbon from Kentucky, a four-grain mash bill, and even its distinctive bottle were impressive! However, this bourbon was a letdown; it's not recommended. Apologies to Jeptha Creed. Give it another shot. Cheers!

Stopped by while passing through. I had never heard of Jeptha Creed - I've never seen it in my city. I did not order anything because I was skeptical when everything on the menu was based on cocktail uses - not any bragging about enjoying it by itself. So I tasted a sip of an Old Fashioned. Even through the sweetness of that cocktail, the finish was still astringent and harsh. The property's setting is beautiful. If someone is planning a distillery tour, I would suggest a visit. Try a sip if you know someone who owns a bottle. I cannot recommend making a purchase at any time.

Acquired this bottle during a trip back in May. Decided to open it on New Year's Eve and was pleasantly surprised. The aroma was unremarkable, with subdued classic bourbon scents. The influence of the Bloody Butcher Corn was noticeable on the palate, though otherwise, the flavors were fairly standard bourbon. The finish was short to medium. In my view, it's a decent sipper, not the best but certainly not the worst. I'm curious to observe how this bottle changes over time.

Nose: Reminiscent of a dusty grain storage area. Hints of vanilla appear periodically, along with a fresh minty quality. There's also a subtle spiciness, but nothing prominent. Palate: It seems on the younger side, with caramel attempting to emerge. Flavors of dried grains and fruit are present, accompanied by a nutty character. More minty notes surface. This is not your standard bourbon. Finish: A bitter dark chocolate sensation with a touch of sweetness trying to manifest at the end, alongside a faint smokiness.

This is unequivocally the worst 'bourbon' I have ever experienced! It would be better described as poor moonshine. I purchased the bottle anticipating a craft distiller would be interesting to sample but had to discard the bottle after only a few drinks. I even offered it to some bourbon companions, who refused more than a taste before spitting it out. Do not waste your time or your palate on this!
