A creamy, Straight Bourbon Whiskey produced by Trey Zoeller & his father Chet for Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Kentucky. Unlike earlier Presidential Select releases, this bourbon was not distilled at Stitzel Weller; instead, it was crafted from 15 lots of whiskey aged 21 to 24 years old, stored in a cooler section of the warehouse. Once blended, this resulted in 2,000 cases. It has a rich beginning with notes of toffee, wood spice & leather; while a creamy & balanced middle adds notes of oak, honeycomb, walnut, polish, sweet vanilla, peach, lime, pepper & rye spice; leading to a long, aromatic & oily finish with notes of fragrant caramel, hints of bitter orange, toasted & charred oak. The liquid presents a vivid amber hue with noticeable streaks of oil running down the glass. The aroma is pleasantly woody with an earthy rye spice, accompanied by brine, sweet molasses, butterscotch, dried flowers, and vanilla. The taste offers a superb harmony of oak and rye spice, creating a dry yet rich profile with subtle undertones of baking spices. Delicate notes of dried flowers and vanilla round out the experience, contributing to a very well-balanced sensation. The finish is moderately long, featuring a delightful lingering oakiness as the other flavors gracefully fade into it.
Put out in 2013, with no wheat. Not from Stitzel-Weller. Barcode of 8-14794-01056-1 Medium range of taste, but without the depth I was hoping for. Some citrus and a lot of spice, plus notes of leather. Almost no burn to it — very smooth. A long finish with a good bit of sour.
It went down easy. While I lean towards scotch, this was quite "smooooooth".. You get me?
