Jeffers Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Appearance: Jeffer’s Creek is a rather light whiskey, with a hay-yellow hue and possibly some faint gold tones. Considering its low 40% ABV, it leaves noticeable alcohol legs. Aroma: The nose is quite light, offering fresh fruit, apple, and honey. Swirling it reveals more of the barrel influence and a hint of spice. Based on the aroma, this bourbon appears to be quite mild, which aligns with its low proof. Taste: The initial flavor mirrors the aroma, minus the apple notes. It presents honey, vanilla, and sweet bread. Finish: The finish is genuinely light, with a subtle lingering taste. The fruit notes become more pronounced after the bourbon goes down the throat. There isn't much bitterness or heat. Overall: I believe this bourbon would be exceptional if it were bottled at a higher proof. The local shop owner mentioned it's made by Buffalo Trace. Comparing it side-by-side with Weller Antique 107, Jeffers Creek didn't quite measure up, though it shared some muted similarities. Jeffers Creek is a pleasant, albeit not complex, bourbon at a very reasonable price.

Ethanol and peanuts on the nose? The palate is very basic, with some caramel. It's thin and has a pale beige color. A considerable burn on the finish. A reliable, everyday bourbon for those on a budget. It would work well as a mixer. I wouldn't anticipate much more from it.

Light, sweet corn flavor, lacking depth, an easy-drinking option at $20, but considering it's apparently aged for 6 years, I'm sensing it. I wouldn't keep it stocked, but I might revisit it occasionally.

A great, affordable wheated bourbon. Some people liken it to Weller Special Reserve. It's close, but not nearly as smooth as Weller. For $18.99, it's satisfactory for me.
