James T. Kirk Straight Bourbon

Neat. I've removed my previous comments. I genuinely considered discarding this. Something felt off, but time on the shelf allowed this to open up. The aroma remains underwhelming, dominated by oak with nothing else. The mouthfeel is smooth yet thin. The palate immediately registers sugar and maple syrup, followed by abundant caramel and vanilla, with a trace of pepper in the background. I was prepared to pour this out today and ended up pouring a second taste instead. A significant lesson learned: allow spirits to oxidize before making a final assessment.

Considering its available nature, this is a solid effort for a themed product. It's not particularly memorable, but it's also not bad. I would still readily choose a Four Roses Small Batch or Old Forester 1920 for sipping neat, but this serves as a perfectly respectable component for mixed drinks like an Old Fashioned or Godfather. I might keep the bottle after it's empty.

I had this recently. I was excited to try it being a Star Trek fan (yeah, I get it, what does that have to do with bourbon?). This was a truly bad pour. I passed the glass around to two other guys, and we all agreed. It should be called Swill Trek. Beam this out of here, Scotty!!

The bottle is great as a decanter, but the sourced bourbon was clearly taken from the least desirable part of the storage area. You can find significantly better Bourbon at the same price or less. My bottle is now filled with Knob Creek Single Barrel.

I tossed it. First bottle I ever tossed. Still, I like the decanter. My new go-to for my infinity bottle!

Nothing particularly special. It's just a bourbon I'd expect to cost $20 to $25.
