The tasting experience is quite intricate, as the expert notes. It begins with an alcoholic burn upon entry but transforms into a medley of spices. It goes down nicely and easily, with minimal alcoholic burn in the aftertaste, which is reminiscent of radishes and the sensation of Oragel (in a pleasant way).

About this bottle
James Oliver American Rye presents oats on the nose, alongside notes of cream, peppery rye bread, and pronounced bitter orange. Cherry blossom, rosewater, and cloves emerge subsequently. Upon tasting, a sharp alcoholic sensation is followed by significant rye spice, caramel, saltwater taffy, and seaweed. Adding water reveals more toffee and cherry characteristics.

Light; sipping is average. A fruity note emerges but is only an accent at the end, not sustained throughout the entire experience. Sip with ice; don't expect boldness. Expect a solid fruity finish and lightness throughout.
It starts with a strong alcohol impact, followed by cream and fruit notes. You wouldn't actively seek this out, but it could certainly serve as a reliable, everyday bourbon.
Thin and spicy, with a slightly oily texture. The spices are mild, like clove or baking spices. It tastes somewhat herbal or floral. There's an unusual note present that I can't quite identify.
I'm getting notes of herbs, spice, and other pleasant things. This is a rather smooth Rye whiskey. The intensity is much less than I anticipated for a 100 proof spirit.
Starts with a light feel in the mouth, but finishes with a lingering, sharper bite. Has citrus and mild caramel notes.
