Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire

Nose: Smells like cinnamon chewing gum or sweets. Palate: Sickly sweet upon arrival. Mildly warm cinnamon, but less intense than anticipated. It begins gently, builds slightly in strength, then fades. That is all. There is no "development" in the conventional sense. Finish: Short. A hint of cinnamon. A mild warmth in the aftertaste. Similar to Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey, this is more of a liqueur than a whiskey – even more so, in fact. Cinnamon is the entirety of the experience, and it's not even a particularly strong encounter. It's not as awful as I had imagined, but ultimately it seems insignificant. It lacks the complexity of a fine liqueur, nor does it possess the character of a good whiskey – in fact, any whiskey presence is completely masked, and this could just as well be made from neutral spirit. The aroma and flavor are so generic and manufactured, it reminds me more of a mass-produced soft drink than anything that should come from a distillery. Hell would have to freeze over and I'd be doing axels on the ice before I would buy a bottle of this. Tasted from a 50ml distillery miniature. Its thick body is overwhelming, excessively sweet to the point of mouth fatigue. The finish is prolonged and sugary, unpleasantly intense, akin to a spoonful of sugar. I question who drinks this; it had to be discarded. May the creators of this "whiskey" find forgiveness.

I recently purchased a bottle because it was on special offer. It also included a complimentary shot glass, which is a nice touch. The aroma is like a milder version of Fireball, but the taste is too weak. I enjoy the initial red hot cinnamon flavor, but it fades very quickly. I did combine 1 oz of this with a bottle of Apple Orchard Hard cider, and it was enjoyable, but the flavor isn't robust enough to achieve the apple pie profile that Fireball offers. Sadly, the shot glass was the best part of the acquisition. I won't be adding this to my collection. I will not keep this in my bar.

Wow. What a delight… I’ll be brief, as it’s likely no one will care to read this. It smells like cinnamon with a whisper of whiskey. It tastes like cinnamon with a whisper of whiskey. Well, what did you anticipate? It’s reminiscent of Fireball, but with slightly more pronounced whiskey notes and less smooth cinnamon. There’s an odd bleach-like flavor that surprisingly doesn’t bother me as much as it should. Considering what it is, it’s not terrible. At least it doesn’t taste like peanut butter.

I feel this is a more mature, less "frat boy" take on Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey. I appreciated the subtler cinnamon flavor. This is a flavored bourbon one can sip and savor, rather than taking shots of Fireball.
