Jack Daniel's No. 27 Gold

Nose: Notes of banana, cinnamon, caramel, charred oak, a hint of maple (akin to a maple cookie, not syrup), cherries, and vanilla. Palate: Flavors of banana, caramel, cinnamon, butterscotch, and oak. The maple presence is more pronounced than on the nose, contributing a certain smoothness, reminiscent of Gentleman Jack. Finish: More maple, now leaning towards maple candy, with butterscotch, cinnamon, and oak. This purchase is among my absolute worst whiskey acquisitions. It resembles JD Old No. 7 with a subtle maple influence, which is fine; I appreciate Jack and have fond memories of maple cookies from my childhood. The two flavor profiles blend and merge harmoniously. In fact, I might get some maple cookies to accompany my next bottle of Jack. The combined cost would likely be around $20, not the $110 this bottle cost me. It was purchased from a large retail store that typically doesn't engage in secondary market pricing, so this should be close to MSRP (unless I'm overlooking something). There's nothing inherently wrong with the liquid itself, but it's not worth the effort or expense. It's a $30 bottle at best, and that might be pushing it. Objectively, the whiskey itself is probably a 3.5, but I'm deducting a full point due to the outrageous price.

In my view, this is a remarkably overlooked item. It sits on the shelf regularly, and I'm surprised it hasn't been bought. To start, the bottle itself is attractive, and even more so if it comes with the packaging. The spirit is incredibly smooth, presenting a sweeter aroma and taste, featuring notes of honey, maple, vanilla, and banana. I didn't notice the ash or bitterness that some have mentioned. It's a solid pick if you're introducing someone to whiskey or want a distinctive bottle for a gathering. However, if you prefer a strong burn or spice, this won't suit your preference. The flavor truly stands out here for me, emphasizing its distinctive and, I must reiterate, remarkable smoothness. Without those aspects, I'd score it lower due to a few significant factors: cost, alcohol content, and age. The retail price should be between $90-$110. It's an age-statement-free bottling, estimated to be 4-6 years old and bottled at 80 proof. I appreciate spirits regardless of their proof. But the combination of these three elements might be a drawback for some, and I concur. That's quite expensive for what you get. You can readily find other quality bourbons or whiskeys that are aged longer and have a higher proof for less money. To fully appreciate its flavor, I'd suggest drinking it straight, without water, ice, or mixers. Fans of standard Jack Daniels should enjoy this. Cheers!

The aroma is dominated by coconut, smoked corn, and honey, with an artificial resinous quality, reminiscent of children's 'crystal balls.' The palate offers honey, fruitcake, and especially coconut – a rich, sweet, and superb flavor. The finish is honeyed with artificial resin and gasoline notes, maintaining that 'crystal ball' essence. It's long and pleasurable, with a slight numbing sensation in the throat. An outstanding product, genuinely good and enjoyable. This is the finest American whiskey I've had to date. It could be the perfect morning spirit to kickstart the day. Per chi da bambino si ricprda i crystal ball, beh, l’odore è proprio quello! Al palato miele e torta di frutta, e soprattutto cocco: dolce e denso, superbo. Finale al miele con note artificiali di resina e benzina, e sempre crystal ball.... lungo e godurioso, che anestetizza leggermente la gola. Niente da dire, grande prodotto proprio buono e piacevole da bere. Finora il miglior whiskey USA bevuto. Se dovessi bere uno spirito a colazione per iniziare alla grande la giornata, forse potrebbe essere questo! Per me bevuta eccezionale.

Perhaps the finest Jack Daniel's expression I've sampled. This No. 27 Gold presents as a very sweet, easily drinkable whiskey with clear aromas and flavors. The nose is wonderful, almost perfect. Honey, prunes, maple syrup, molasses, grape juice, and thick caramel are present, offering complexity and sweetness, with a peppery spice. The honey notes are exceptional, along with clove. The palate is a bit too direct, yet still a satisfying dram, featuring vanilla, rum, and molasses. The finish is also very good and notably sweet, with honey, pepper, and burnt hay. Quite pleasant. Overall, this is a solid whiskey. It missed a 4.5-star rating by a narrow margin, earning an 89 out of 100.

🇺🇸 31/12/2021 Ankara Nose: A very sweet and aromatic nose with maple, honey, banana, caramel, brown sugar, and light woody scents. Palate: As expected from double filtration, it's very easy to drink. Not as sweet as the nose suggests, with prominent maple, honey, caramel, and banana flavors. These flavors are accompanied by intense spice and oak character. It's truly very rich. Very smooth to drink, just like the nose suggested. Finish: Surprisingly long, coating the palate, woody. Overall Impression: A very sweet, spicy on the palate, and easy-drinking blend with clear influences from maple casks and double filtration. 91/100

APPEARANCE: Deep yellow. AROMA: Banana and cherry notes, leaning more towards banana. The familiar scent of furfural alcohol typical of many JD products is present, alongside some wood and leather. TUP: Flavors meld together in the mouth; it's smooth with vanilla, a touch of caramel, and subtle hints of oak and maple. However, a truly delicious taste and a pleasant beverage! AFTERTASTE: Exceptionally smooth, yet very brief and "pure." I could sip this straight all day.
