About this bottle

In celebration of its 150th anniversary, the Jack Daniel Distillery issued a special bottling of Old No. 7 in May 2016. The mash bill remains consistent, composed of 80% corn, 12% barley, and 8% rye. This particular edition, distinct from another 150th-anniversary release bottled at 100 proof, is presented at 86 proof in 750ml containers.

Marvin Michaels 2.0

The aroma is faint, almost non-existent. It has a funk, similar to a certain other brand. Malty and lacks complexity. It's 'smoother' than a specific Tennessee whiskey, but the smoothness feels like a diluted, weaker version of that standard – losing the nostalgia and spicy character. Thumbs down.

Lauren Urban 3.5

The aroma has classic banana and vanilla notes, which carry through to the palate. There are minor hints of maple as well. The finish is slightly oaky. While I'd prefer a higher-proof version of Old No. 7, this serves as a suitable alternative. I'm eager to try Jack Bonded.

Armando Rosario 5.0

I wish this were still available, as it's a fantastic representation of Old No.7. The increased proof truly enhances the flavors. If you find it and enjoy Jack Daniel's at all, buy it.

Crystal Parson 4.0

Equal to or better than the single barrel version. A reliable choice.
