J.P. Wiser's Union 52

This might be my favorite whisky of the year. The balance between sweet caramel and mild fruit with oak spice and a whisper of smoke is almost perfect. The aroma is more toffee and caramel, but the taste reveals some rye spice and robust oak notes. The finish is long, with a hint of citrus accompanying the oak's bitterness and lingering sweetness. A rich whisky, with caramel, vanilla, and toasted bread. A lingering finish to the very end. It was near the end when we tasted it, and the flavors were superb. Difficult to imagine the flavors when it was new. A very fine moment.

Incredibly smooth with no burn. It's surprisingly well-rounded, hitting every note without any single element dominating, resulting in a great palate. A subtle smokiness emerges on the finish, blending seamlessly with the spice.
