Glenfiddich Malt Master's Edition Sherry Cask

I enjoyed several glasses of this excellent whisky at a friend's place recently. The company and conversation may have influenced my perception. Generally, I'm not a big fan of Glenfiddich; it's a decent single malt but never compels me to have more. However, I was genuinely impressed by this sherry cask version. It was exceptionally smooth, with the oak spice gentle on the palate, while vanilla notes swirled like warm vanilla ice cream. The finish was long and satisfying. I rate it a solid 4 and have added it to my wanted list.

This whisky has a rather thin body. Upfront, the aroma is dominated by wood, vanilla, and a touch of sherry. The flavor is significantly subdued when set against the standard Glenfiddich 12 year. Oak, vanilla, honey, a whisper of sherry, and that characteristic hint of orchard fruits from Glenfiddich make up most of the palate. For those seeking a Glenfiddich, the 12 year expression is the way to go. It presents much more vibrancy, despite having a lower alcohol content. This one doesn't justify the higher cost, though it is pleasantly mellow.

A decent whisky, and a solid option if your expectations are managed. The sherry influence is evident, but the fruity notes are somewhat subdued. Instead, it's quite woody, with caramel and vanilla flavors. The body feels a bit flat, yet the finish is remarkably smooth. It's good... I just don't appreciate whiskies that lack complexity.

Remarkable. Exceptionally oily and sweet. The aroma is delightful, with an extremely smooth, honey-based taste. Undercurrents of vanilla and maple give it an almost aged rum quality rather than Scotch. I don't understand its low rating. Highly recommended as an evening dessert-like drink with a sweet finish.

Good, but for the price, I prefer the distinct sherry notes of a young Glenfarclas.

The aroma and taste are quite pleasant. The conclusion is somewhat sweet. It doesn't burn and has minimal peat.
