Roman Bentley 3.0

Color: Medium Copper Aroma: Caramel, Oak, Cinnamon Red Hots, Buckwheat cereal. Palate (consumed with an ice cube): First impression is "light-bodied" with a mild warmth. It's sweet but not excessively so, with a slightly bitter sensation on the sides and back of the tongue. A hint of "orange peel" appeared on the 3rd or 4th sip. Not much else is coming through on this initial tasting... just some common "bourbon" characteristics that I recognize from most bottles. Second tasting... some pleasant holiday — or perhaps, Holladay — spices emerge as the ice melts. Finish: Slightly drying with additional tingling and spices. Final Thoughts: I generally anticipate wheated bourbons to be sweeter than I find them. This is no different. I would describe it as more spicy than sweet. While it may not be the most intricate or multi-dimensional bourbon I've ever had, it's quite good, and I will certainly enjoy finishing this bottle. It has definitely sparked my curiosity about other Holladay products. 3.0 stars.
