Winter solstice in Norway: the ideal moment to open this 16-year-old Highland Park, produced in 2001 and aged in sherry butt #651 (58.8% ABV, 588 bottles). What a stunning color! Could this be Odin's blood? Dried fruits, roasted coffee, and wisps of peat smoke greet the nose, with undertones of cloves, Jamón serrano, and leather. The taste is potent, sweet, and subtly peaty with dark chocolate, mint, and a touch of salt. Cocoa, licorice, and oak spices transition into the warming and substantial finish. An excellent single malt for long, cold nights! RATING: 4.4/5.0 stars ≙ 90 pts → SUPERB [-]
